Crises: reconfigurations of life, power and worlds

Welcome to the 2015 conference website of the German Anthropological Association GAA (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Völkerkunde DGV). The GAA holds its 2015 biannual meeting in Marburg from September, 30th to October, 3rd. It will be organised and conducted in cooperation with the Department of Cultural and Social Anthropology, University of Marburg.

Program

The keynote lecture as well as plenary sessions I and IV and several workshops will be conducted in English (workshops no. 1, 4, 5, 11, 16, 23, 27, 28, 29, 34, 38, 39, 41, 42, 50).

 

How to get there & where to stay

All conference venues are located in the city center of Marburg within walking distance. From Marburg main railway station ("Hauptbahnhof" or "Hbf") you easily reach the city center by pubilc busses No. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7. When you get off at bus stop "Stadthalle" you are right in front of the auditorium building ("Hörsaalgebäude"). This is the main conference venue, where all plenary sessions and workshops take place.

The nearest international airport is Frankfurt Rhein-Main. From the airport's regional railway station ("Regionalbahnhof") regional trains leave regularly, mostly via Frankfurt main railway station ("Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof" or "Hbf"). A regional train ("S-Bahn" or "RE" or "RB" trains) needs around one hour and a half to Marburg (one way € 15,00). Fast trains (as IC or ICE trains) will be more expensive.
